Vikings vs Steelers Game Preview
A season ago, the Minnesota Vikings got off to a 5-0 start. They were the last team in the league in 2016 to lose a game. But by year’s end, this was a third-place squad with an 8-8 record. Mike Zinmer’s club dropped eight of its final 11 contests and finished behind the Green Bay Packers (10-6) and Detroit Lions (9-7) in the always-interesting NFC North.
Then there were the Pittsburgh Steelers. A 4-1 start was followed by a four-game slump. But Mike Tomlin’s Black and Gold ran the table, won the AFC North three games ahead of the Baltimore Ravens and weren’t stopped until they were humbled by the New England Patriots in the AFC title game.
So here we have a pair of 1-0 teams looking to remain unbeaten. Meanwhile, the Steelers have now reeled off eight straight regular-season victories and are 10-1 in their last 11 overall contests. It should make for an interesting afternoon at Heinz Field as Pittsburgh gets ready for back-to-back contests vs. NFC North teams. Tomlin’s club travels to the Windy City next Sunday to face the Chicago Bears.
So what are we looking for in this interconference tilt? It wasn’t long ago that the Vikings were division champions (2015) so there’s still a lot of talent there. The Steelers have reached the playoffs three straight years and have been mentioned as a favorite to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl…again.
Here we will take a look at the main match-ups between the offensive and defensive units and offer our prediction for a pair of franchises that met in Super Bowl IX a mere 43 years ago.
Don’t miss a minute of the action when the Minnesota Vikings head to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. Whether you’re listening to the radio or watching the game on television or an online stream, there are plenty of great ways to keep up to the minute on what should be an amazing game!
